第一次听这首歌是在高二的一个周末，自己一个人躺在床上百无聊赖，那时我家农村还是一台黑白的电视机，一台音乐类节目推荐了这首歌，刚开始我还不还不以为意，当earth song这首课音乐响起的时候我才被渐渐吸引。MV开头迈克尔▪杰克逊扮演一个失落的救世主形象，他为被人为破坏的环境，被无辜屠戮的野生动物和被战火摧残的世界悲泣，紧接着杰克逊面对人类肆意破坏撕心裂肺的呐喊，整首歌也达到了高潮的部分，该片最具震撼性和戏剧性的场景在末尾：各地心受创伤的人们与迈克尔·杰克逊一道，在焦土上以一种古老而奇特仪式呼唤神力。大地之母最终响应。在狂风怒号、闪电雷鸣中，在迈克尔·杰克逊近乎绝望的嘶喊中，死者复活，万物重生。
当第一次听这首歌的时候，对我来说无疑是震撼的，可能自己从小生活在闭塞的农村的缘故，一首歌直接给我打开了一个世界，没想到世界上还有这样的歌手。
回到学校以后，利用空档时间，我跑到音乐商店购买了杰克逊的光碟，回家的时候偷偷用DVD放了一遍，我再一次被杰克逊的音乐才华所折服。
一转眼杰克逊离开已经14年了，每年全世界都会有很多人通过自己的方式缅怀对这位流行天王。而我只能说，感谢你来过人间，无论何时你都会是我们心中的一盏灯，在繁忙、劳累、抑或遭受挫折时，只要你的音乐一响起，定会触动我们内心深处，积蓄力量，重新出发！
